The above illustration shows three bridge type mandrel tools used in the production of street lighting standards. Here the operator is punching tube components to suit
the neck of the street lamp carrier - which needs to be deformation free to allow a second tube to slide inside. The central mandrel is just visible and this carries a replacable die insert. After punching, and
removal of the component, the scrap slug drops through the mandrel, the tool base, and is collected below.
