Street Lighting Poles and Traffic Light Poles

Street Light Pole - Lantern neck support tube punching

The above illustration shows three bridge type mandrel tools used in the production of street lighting standards. Here the operator is punching tube components to suit the neck of the street lamp carrier - which needs to be deformation free to allow a second tube to slide inside. The central mandrel is just visible and this carries a replacable die insert. After punching, and removal of the component, the scrap slug drops through the mandrel, the tool base, and is collected below.

Sliding Punch Bed Machine - Manual.

The low cost machine below - has a hydraulic tool mounted on a sliding bed - which is mounted on ‘Hepco’ rails and bearings. The component is held in the vice shown at the left hand foreground. In this case the material is copper strip of pre-cut widths and is held in place by suitable guides with dowel pins. The sliding bed is manually moved along the slide, and set to a rule - inlaid to the bed - and clamped before punching takes place.
