Parsell Minni-Die specialise in designing and building special purpose punching units and machines. All of our machines generally use standard punch parts, cylinders and other major elements in the execution of design - which means that spares are readily available.

All of the elements are designed and manufactured in our own factory and these include punches, dies, units, hydraulic cylinders designed for punching, power units, bed plates, assembly, electical control cabinets, painting and testing.

Over the last four decades we have designed and manufactured machines from simple one tool arrangements to full CNC automated punching lines up to USA$200,000  (£125,000 GBP).

Many of our custom built punching machines are made to suit straight line punching of roll formed section and extrusions.

These can vary from thin sections for wardrobe door track to punching 21mm diameter holes in 10mm thick bar for steel bow top fencing. We have a number of customers here and abroad who manufacture steel fencing - which is one of the most demanding applications.

A recent contract for a trailer manufacturer in North Wales had 78 hydraulic punching tools along a  nine metre bed length to produced a punched cold roll formed section in around 20 seconds.

Another recent contract involved a triple deck bed machine with some 50 plus units to punch door espangolettes in three stages - with a cycle time of about 22 seconds floor to floor.

above: This machine is designed to notch out the centre rib of an exhaust component for a motor vehicle manufacturer in the North East UK. The material is 3mm thick stainless steel and this application requires a special reverse stub mandrel used in conjunction with a stub toe punch.

Punching of tubes for production components is a very varied application because no two projects are the same - but the machines all have similar features.

On our ‘What’s New’ page you can see machines custom built to punch and notch families of flat sheet components for a freezer manufacture.

On the ‘With Mandrel’ page you can see the large and small of mandrel applications from small copper tube connectors for a boiler manifold to large diameter thick wall tube used for traffic light poles installed all over the United Kingdom.

Below is a general view of the machine designed to punch traffic light poles with all the various holes required to carried the four triple light sets and the control boxes. A complete punched pole is produced in two minutes -  considerably less than the previous drilling operations - and no deburring or swarf.
