All of the machines and bench set ups manufactured by Parsell Minni-Die are fitted with power units designed and manufactured by us in our own factory.

Shock loads and transient pressures are created by hydraulic punching and our power units are designed and developed to meet the severe rigours of  this specialist application.

The power sources can be divided into three categories. The first and lowest cost method is the air-hydraulic intensifiers.

These operate from normal shop airline pressure of 80psi (5,6bar) and generally have an output pressure of 5,280psi (360bar) They  are more suited to running up to 8 small single acting cylinders of about 2,5 tons force each.

Cycle times are about 1,5 seconds plus loading times

The machine above is typical of the ideal application for  air hydraulic intensifiers. They are best mounted vertically so that the oil outlet into the manifold system or the cylinders is the highest level in the system.

All of our machines are fitted with automatic and continuously monitored bleeding devices - which expel any air that may get into the system as wear takes place or when the system is first charged..

The second category covers electro hydraulic power units which work up to 3,000psi (206bar) and are best suited to run up to 10 single acting cylinders of about 4 tons force each. Cycle times are about 1 second plus loading time for components.

These units can equally be used for double acting hydraulic cylinders where conditions and designs demand a powered return to the cylinders.

PP-115 power Unit

above: This is a typical PP-115 power unit with a 230 litre oil tank to carry an 11kw (15hp) motor drive pump set and this type of power unit would normally stand alongside the machine it powers.

The third power unit category utilses twin pumps to give both high pressure and high flow rates. These units do their work at 5,000psi (340bar) which allows smaller cylinders to be used and thus enable punching units to work at closer centre distances to each other.

The high flow pump moves the cylinders quickly to take up daylight and spring pressures and then when the punch reaches and touches the metal - an automatic changeover activates the high pressure pump - which completes the punching.

On the return cycle, both pumps combine to maximise flow and speed of return when using double acting hydraulic cylinders.
